Read on to find out more about the world's best waterparks and what makes them so special...

Aquaventure Waterpark, Dubai

The Aquaventure Waterpark, in the United Arab Emirates, holds the record for the Middle East's longest river ride, stretching an amazing 2.3km. Visitors can get their adrenaline pumping with hundreds of rides and slides.  They can meet sharks and rays or simply relax on 700 metres of clean, private beaches.

Enjoy the thrill of plunging 27 metres down a near-vertical waterslide, or take on the exhilarating river rapids! As well as the rides, there are dolphin safaris, a shark lagoon and a chance to hand-feed rays. The park, which opened in 2008, also offers aquarium dives and snorkelling, plus an abundance of restaurants serving world cuisine.

Aquatica, Orlando, Florida

Aquatica features two enormous wave pools side-by-side, a Dolphin Plunge water slide that takes visitors on an exciting ride through an aquarium of dolphins and the Omaka Rocka blast, which enables visitors to travel at speed down a series of funnels and flumes.

For those people who prefer to relax, the sandy beach boasts 1,360 tons of white sand, while the gardens (inspired by the South Seas) feature more than 60,000 species of plants. The waterpark opened in 2008 and features numerous white knuckle waterslides, such as the eight-lane racing slide Taumata Racer, Ihu's Breakaway Falls with three drop slides and one-speed slide and Roa's Rapids, a fast aggressive river with speed zones and geysers.

Beach Park, Fortaleza, Brazil

Beach Park features the world's most famous ride, Insano, which stands at 135 feet in height. Constructed in 1989, Insano is known as an extreme water slide, while Arrepius features a unique "Skybox" - a transparent capsule 25 metres high, which opens and drops guests into the water to start the ride.

Beach Park also boasts the fastest water slide in the world, where guests can zoom along at 65 mph. A giant half-pipe slide, with a 90-degree slope, Kalafrio is described as "petrifying" and one for the thrill-seekers. There's a massive big top-themed play area for the kids, featuring the Acqua Show, water cannons, eight water slides and synchronised water jets. Covering a total area of 170,000 square metres, Beach Park is one of Brazil's biggest tourist attractions.

Watercube Waterpark, Beijing

The Watercube Waterpark in China has a futuristic feel, with highlights including the funnel-shaped Tornado ride, Bullet Bowl. Riders shoot down at speed into a massive bowl via the mighty Aqualoop slide. There are giant models of jellyfish and clouds of bubbles suspended from the ceiling.

The attraction was launched in 2011 in the National Aquatics Centre, which had been built for the 2008 Summer Olympics. When the Games were over, it was transformed into Happy Magic Watercube - an indoor waterpark that's open all year round. It's Beijing’s second most visited tourist spot, with only the Great Wall receiving more visitors. There's a multitude of water rides and slides, plus a wave pool and spa areas.

Plans are being discussed to use parts of the Watercube for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

When you're enjoying the fun at a waterpark or swimming pool, rubber mats are crucial for health and safety reasons, as they can prevent slips and trips in wet areas.

Coruba offers a wide range of wet area pool matting to reduce the risks of accidents. Please contact us on 01702 560194 for further details of our range of safety matting.
