Katie Price

Katie Price is perhaps best-known for being a glamour model in her early career but what many people don't realise is that she's also an accomplished horse-rider, author and astute businesswoman, who has even brought out her own equestrian clothing range.

Katie Price

Growing up

As the only child of Ray and Amy Infield, Katie was born Katrina Infield in Brighton in May 1978. Her early life wasn't without disruption, as her father walked out when she was just four years old. Her mother married builder, Paul Price, in 1988 and Katie took his surname. She has a half-brother, Daniel and a half-sister, Sophie, through her mother's remarriage.

Attending Blatchington Mill School, she wasn't a good student academically but she excelled at sports, swimming in regional competitions for Sussex and developing a passion for horses and horse-riding as a child. Leaving school at 16, she didn't want an office job, instead sending some photos to a modelling agency. She was snapped up and was soon working as a glamour model, calling herself Jordan in those days.

Horse riding

She has never lost her love of horse-riding and to this day she enjoys competing in dressage events – which takes up more of her time than fans might think.

Her accomplishments in dressage were acknowledged when she was invited to take part in the prestigious Horse of the Year Show 2008 at Birmingham NEC, giving a demonstration on her horse, Jordan's Glamour Girl. Event organisers were delighted to welcome her to the show's diamond jubilee celebration. Katie trained with top dressage rider Andrew Gould in preparation for her appearance in front of a 56,000-strong crowd.

Horse of the Year Show director, Mark Wein said the show was the "pinnacle of the equestrian calendar" to which all riders aspired. Describing Katie as a, "committed and passionate rider", he added the visitors were, "in for a real treat".

Business and pleasure

In addition to competing in dressage events, Katie has learned to play polo and has also written equestrian books - Katie Price's Perfect Ponies is aimed at children. To coincide with the London Olympics 2012, she was appointed the face of "Hoof", a British Equestrian Federation campaign aimed at encouraging inner-city children to take up riding.

Katie has also launched her own range of clothing called KP Equestrian, which brings a little bling to the horse-riding world - she has produced both an adult range and KP Pony for children. Including lots of pink clothing and horse-blankets, the range even includes a pink horse-truck - after climbing up the ramp, the horses are transported to their destination in a fairy tale horsebox, resembling a giant Barbie truck!

Reality TV

Her latest venture was a reality TV show in 2016. Katie hosted a new equestrian series, Katie Price’s Pony Club, on the cable channel TLC. Over a six-week period, children (including her own) trained in dressage, hunting, racing and show jumping. Described by critics as a, "brilliant horsey romp", the show ended with the main event, a high-society polo match.

In her personal life, Katie has been married three times: to Peter Andre from 2005 to 2009, having a son and daughter, Junior aged 11 and Princess, nine; to MMA fighter Alex Reid in 2010 but the marriage lasted only 11 months; and to current husband Kieran Hayler, whom she married in January 2013. They have a son called Jet, aged three and a daughter, two-year-old Bunny. Katie has a son Harvey, 15, whose father is former Manchester United footballer, Dwight Yorke.
